"The Up Day Down Day Diet"
just happened to see a post from last year in one forum:
"The basic theory to this diet is to limit calorie intake on your 'down days' to 20-25% of your caloric count for weight maintenance. On the 'up days', you may eat whatever you want and as much as want as long as you do not intentionally overeat. This method triggers your 'skinny gene' or SIRT1 gene and produces wonderful weight loss results along with other health benefits, according to the website." (www.johnsonupdaydowndaydiet.com)
WoW, I didn't even know there's a site specially for this method, since I tried it like six years ago, and wholly came up this idea myself!!! It is simply another version of dieting: instead of eating less everyday, you can choice hungry every second day for the return of one day relief. The critical point is: the total calorie taken should be same in these two. kinda like 1+1 and 0+2. however, soon or later, instead of 1+1+1......., yours probably will go like 0+2......+0+3+(-1)+4+...
hope you can see my point: if you keep eating less all the time, your stomach actually shrink (in size) and so does your appetites. but when you lock yourself one day from food while dreaming on the eating plan next day, I find it hardly keep clear mind "not overeat" that day. There is scientific support saying the absorbance of food increase with the anxiety, i.e. eating with empty stomach will absorb more!
btw, i didn't know that gene thing when i tried that method. I just didn't want my metabolism rate slow down (since if keep eating less all the time, fat will burn slowly and slowly) so that changing gene sounds really interesting :) so gene will change just by changing eating habits! wonder why those scientists still haven't figured out "gene therapy" yet?
